Today, Saturday, 18 July 2009, Governor of Jakarta Special Capital Region Fauzi Bowo visits the victim of Ritz Carlton and JW Marriot hotels bombings who are treated in Jakarta Hospital. Six out of seven people treated in the hospital are in stable condition. Number of people treated in hospital decreased from the total of seventeen victims. Most of those treated in Jakarta Hospital are employees and security officers working for both hotels.

During the visit, Governor Fauzi Bowo is touched by victim’s enthusiasm of recovery. Governor Fauzi told the bombing victims ”Jakarta has stopped for a moment when the bombs exploded this morning, but I, the Governor of Jakarta Special Capital Region and the Governor of all of people residing in the province, pledged to work strenuously to restore order in Jakarta. Our life must not be held hostage by those who feel that they have rights to take life of the people.”

After visiting victims in Jakarta Hospital, Governor Fauzi Bowo and Indonesian Chief Police Commissioner General Bambang Hendarso accompanied President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to the crime scene.

Governor Fauzi Bowo feels optimistic that Jakarta will immediately recover, he points out that Joint Stock Price Index (IHSG) has not led to a significant decrease after the bombing. Governor said the hotel occupancy levels remain around 70%. As of 17 July 2009, number of airplane passengers coming through Soekarno-Hatta International Airport from 6.00 to 10.30 a.m. (Western Indonesia Standard Time/WIB) reaches 5,174. Passengers decreased to 2,360 the next day (18 July 2009). The number of passengers does not show a jump in the number of people leaving Jakarta. There are 40 people from Hong Kong cancelled to take tourism package and 12 people from China cancelled their reservations at JW Marriot hotel. “I demand all hotels and travel bureaus to update their data everyday in order to monitor the actual development of tourism and hotel conditions,” said Fauzi Bowo
