Governor of Jakarta Special Capital Region (DKI Jakarta) Fauzi Bowo and President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono this afternoon (Friday, July 17, 2009) visited MMC Hospital to see JW Marriott and Ritz Carlton hotels bombings injured victims.

Governor Fauzi Bowo exclaimed “First of all, allow me to convey my deepest condolence to those who lost their family members today. For those who are injured, I hope they will have quick recovery. We genuinely condemn acts of violence that aimed at taking life of innocent people.”

”Jakarta has stopped for a moment when the bombs exploded this morning. We all know that in the first trading session at Indonesia’s Stock Exchange, the index decreased by 1.22 percent. However in the second trading session, a recovery happened relatively quickly” said the Governor. “Rupiah did not move much,” he added.

Furthermore Governor Fauzi Bowo said that it would be too premature to say what the situation would lead to because the bombs just exploded this morning. In spite of this, Governor asserted that there have been critical indications. ”I, myself sense market optimism, but we must wait further development. We will monitor closely the number of visitors especially that of those who come to Jakarta and the total number of cancelled reservations in Jakarta and across Indonesia,” said Governor.
